This is a specialized position providing in-home services such as Home-Based Intervention and Intensive Family Therapy to participants in the Family Treatment Drug Court Program.  This position provides a variety of services including therapeutic intervention typically with all family members, concrete services, collateral services and crisis intervention directed to meet the needs of the child and family, to improve family communication, functioning and relationships.  Gathers and  consolidates background information to present as documentation for initial court hearings, as progress reports in judicial reviews, or as summaries in facilitating appropriate placements. Attends court hearings and writes necessary reports; confers with significant others. Testimony must be prepared for many court appearances and the making of recommendations to the court in the form of treatment plans.  Prepares and maintains client record; completes all required forms, reports and documentation. Provides crisis intervention and short term-counseling to emergency situations and after hours.  Makes appropriate foster care placements for children or teenagers in need of protective custody. Responds to abuse and neglect complaints to assess the need for protection of
the children involved, which may include after hours and weekends. Participates in school staffings, Team Decision-making Meetings, Family Support Meetings, Foster Care Review, multi-agency treatment plan reviews, child protection team meetings,  and meets with other professionals involved with the child. This position must have thorough knowledge of and ability to implement various therapeutic/counseling approaches; techniques affecting changes in behavior.  Must possess thorough knowledge of child development, substance abuse dynamics, cross cultural issues, ability to make independent decisions related to child safety.  Position requires a thorough knowledge of casework principles and methods, of human needs and behavior pertaining to child development, parenting, attachment, and separation.  Knowledge of social groups work principles and methods.  Knowledge of medical symptoms related to injuries or failure to thrive in children.  Knowledge of laws, regulations and legal processes pertaining to protective  services.  Working knowledge of the battered child syndrome, and the laws dealing with child abuse, neglect and other dependency conditions.  Knowledge and skill in interviewing techniques, crisis intervention methods, and relevant treatment modalities and techniques.  Knowledge of Colorado Children’s code, agency rules, regulations and procedures related to servicing children and  community resources.  Ability to establish support with harmful or hostile family members.  Knowledge of substance abuse and domestic violence issues.  






Level II – Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency.  Level III – Two years full time, professional, paid experience obtained after the degree in a public or private social services agency. A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for one year of work experience. Level IV - Minimum of one-year full time, paid experience obtained in a social services agency at a Case Worker III Level. 

Additional Requirements: 

A valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, liability insurance. Must be physically present within the geographical boundaries of Fremont County when performing on-call duties.  Must be able to pass a nationwide background check.
