Summary: 

This position ensures that a child’s right to visit with their parent(s) is respected.  This position provides direct intervention typically with all family members during supervised visits to meet the needs of the child and family, to improve family communication, functioning and relationships.  In addition, this position provides facilitation of Ice Breakers for the Family-to-Family model.  This position includes performing child/youth abuse investigations, removing a child from a home and arranging for another placement during after hour and weekend coverage.  Maintains the integrity of visits by ensuring policies and procedures of The Family Connection Center are followed. In conjunction with primary caseworker, determines appropriate visitation plan and ensures the visitation plan is consistent with and integrated into the Family Services Plan goals. Observes, records and monitors all visits to their appropriate supervision level.  Works with families in supervised visitation to help them obtain the skills necessary to keep the family intact and safe.  This includes teaching basic skills such as parenting, problem solving, etc.  Integrates information and curriculum from parenting classes into visits.  Provides direct intervention when appropriate using evidenced base practices, skills and training.  Works with visitors to plan appropriate activities for visit, prepares for visit and debriefs after visit. Provides crisis intervention counseling and provides direct counseling to improve family communication, functioning and relationships. Completes visitation summary reports for the court.  Attends court hearings and provides testimony as needed. 

 

Duties:

Qualifications: 

Level II – Minimum of one year of full-time professional caseworker experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency. Level III – Two years full time, professional, paid experience obtained after the degree in a public or private social services agency. A master’s degree in social work or human behavioral sciences field may substitute for one year of work experience. Level IV - Minimum of one-year full time, paid experience obtained in a social services agency at a Case Worker III Level.

Additional Requirements: 

A valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, liability insurance. Must be physically 
present within the geographical boundaries of Fremont County when performing on-call duties.  Must be able 
to pass a nationwide background check.
