Patrols urban and rural areas of the county. Conducts surveillance in industrial and residential areas. Detects drunk drivers and performs sobriety evaluations. Arrests DUI suspects and completes all related reports and records. Attends Department of Motor Vehicle revocation hearings. Ensures security of buildings. Enforces state statutes by performing warrant, felony or misdemeanor arrests. Responds to calls for assistance and complaints of crimes. Employs physical use of force, when necessary, to obtain compliance. Prepares and obtains judicial approval of arrest and search warrants. Secures and protects crime scenes by establishing boundaries, locating and identifying evidence, and briefing supervisors/investigators on their arrival. Assists and interviews victims and witnesses; detains suspects. Required to carry a firearm and be prepared to use it.


High school diploma or equivalent required. One-year accredited college or related technical school preferred; or three (3) to six (6) months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements: 

Colorado Peace Officer's Certification required. First Aid/CPR certification required. Valid Colorado Driver's License required. Successful participation in ongoing training will be required.
