Benefits

Fremont County offers a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program to all employees who may be experiencing personal or professional struggles.

All active employees are required to receive their payroll checks through direct deposit.

Fremont County offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible employees.  Eligible employees are all employees working at least 30 hours per week, including temporary or seasonal employees.  Employees working less than 30 hours are not eligible for benefits except contributions to the Colorado Retirement Association (as defined below).

Vacation and Sick Leave Accruals

  • Full Time Employees
    • 0 – 60 months:  4 hours every pay period of each
    • 61-120 months:  6 hours every pay period of each
    • 121 + months:  8 hours every pay period of each
    • Maximum carryover is 240 hours every January 1 for vacation leave
    • Maximum accrual is 500 hours of sick leave
  • Part Time, Regular Employees
    • Pro-rated based on the number of hours worked
  • Full Time/Part Time, Temporary Employees
    • DO NOT accrue leave

Sick Leave Bank

The Sick Bank program is offered to all Regular Full Time Employees who wish to participate.  After six (6) months of employment they can opt to contribute eight (8) hours of their accrued sick leave to become an active member.  An annual open enrollment is offered for those employees who did not opt to participate.  If the balance of the bank is less than 5,000 hours an annual open enrollment is held and all employees wishing to either join or continue their membership must contribute eight (8) hours of accrued sick leave.  The program is available for a catastrophic illness or injury for which the employee is incapacitated for duty, proper application is submitted for review and approval, the employee has exhausted all accrued leave and if approved, can be granted up to 160 hours of sick bank hours.

Holidays – Click on this link to view adopted holiday schedule.  There are two separate schedules, a 10-hour schedule for all offices and buildings other than the Department of Human Services which is on the 9-hour schedule.  The schedule applies to all Regular Full Time and Part Time (pro-rated) employees.  Temporary employees do not receive holiday pay, or any adopted floating holiday hours.

Health, Dental and Vision Insurance

Benefits are offered through the Colorado Employer Benefit Trust which is a multiple employer trust for public institutions to provide employee benefits.  It has approximately 33,000 members and over 350 participating groups.  The trust is governed by a board of trustees made up of representatives from the groups.  For further details you are welcome to visit their website:  cebt.org. 

 

A. Health Insurance benefits are managed through UMR who processes all claims.  Prescription benefits are managed and processed through CVS.

Employees working at least 30 hours per week are required to elect health insurance from the available plans:

  • PPO4 (see attached summary of benefits)
  • PPO5 (see attached summary of benefits)
  • PPO8 (see attached summary of benefits)
  • HRP is only available to those employees who have other documented health insurance as a supplemental plan

Life Insurance

Fremont County pays the premiums for employees for the following coverages:

  • Boston Mutual
    • $10,000 term life on employee
    • $5,000 term life on spouse
    • $1,000 term life on eligible children (up to age 26)
  • CEBT (Standard Insurance Company)
    • $20,000 term life on employee
  • Voluntary Term Life Insurance is available for employees to elect through Boston Mutual and CEBT.  Employee pays the full premiums for these elections.
  • Whole Life Insurance is available for employees to elect through Boston Mutual.  Employee pays the full premium for this election.

Retirement

Fremont County participates in a 401(a) and 457 plan through Colorado Retirement Association.  Visit their website for detailed information at https://cra-online.empower-retirement.com/

  • 401(a) is mandatory participation for all employees working more than 20 hours per week
    • 3% employee participation, 3% matching County contribution
    • 5 year vesting schedule
  • 457 plan is optional participation for all employees working more than 20 hours per week
    • Employee can contribute up to the IRS maximum
    • No County matching funds

Optional Benefits

Accident and Critical Illness plans are available through Boston Mutual at the employee’s expense.

Disability Plans are available through American Fidelity at the employee’s expense.

Flexible Spending Account is available through American Fidelity.

Legal Shield plans are available at the employee’s expense.
