Planning Commission to Consider Bulk Propane Facility

The Fremont County Planning Commission will consider an application for a bulk propane fuel storage facility east of Florence at their October 2nd monthly meeting.   The application for the Special Review Use Permit is being made by Aercrete Land doing business as Fremont Land Partners.    The property owners want permission to allow development of a Colorado Propane Supply Distribution facility on their property.   If the permit is approved, Colorado Propane would locate 48 bulk propane storage tanks on the 35 acre site which is industrially zoned and located along Colorado Highway 120, a mile east of the junction with Highway 115.   The distribution site would have a storage capacity of 1.44 million gallons of propane.

The firm proposes to ship the propane to the site by rail with a train expected to make deliveries every two days consisting of six to eight rail cars on each train with two tankers per rail car.   Colorado Propane has said they expect to employ five to seven people working three shifts daily with each shift consisting of two to three employees.   The bulk propane storage facility would serve as a trucking distribution site for Colorado and surrounding states.

The only other item of business on the Planning Commission agenda is a workshop on updating the Fremont County Master Plan.   The Planning Commission meets at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2nd in Room LL3 of the Fremont County Administration Building.
